ABOUT THE BOOK
The Light of Love pours down on Frilly. It shines so brightly that she quails and runs away. Upset with herself for feeling scared, she wakes her good friend Mawson and pours out her confusions. She wants to learn how to be bold and is convinced that she can do this by going on a quest. With muddled help from Mawson she sets off into the great Out There. But is a quest to find oneself really the answer?
MY THOUGHTS
Having reviewed It’s a Bright World to Feel Lost In last year, I was delighted when Mawson’s Guardian asked me to review She Ran Away From Love and then I discovered that the little bear was touring with Rachel’s Random Resources – what a great way to shine the light on this delightful picture book. My thanks to Rachel for the place on the tour and to Mark for sending the book.
Wise bear Mawson is trying to help his friend Frilly. Afraid of the Light of Love, she wants to find her braver self and to be happy. She sets out on her journey but is she doing the right thing and does she know really what she wants? Mawson’s attempts to help using meditation don’t always have the desired effect. Frilly is easily distracted whether its by Honey-Choco-Mello-Creams or dreams and as can be seen, Frilly is not a natural artist!
With every page having a beautifully photographed bear picture and a relevant accompanying caption or message, this charming book will appeal to all ages. Although a very young child may not understand the meaning of the captions unless they were explained, the pictures would captivate a young bear fan. For older children and adults, the themes of friendship, of searching to find happiness and being brave enough to take a chance will certainly be understood and reasonate.
These are fantastic little books to keep and look back through for both children and adults alike.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Mawson, a big hearted, soul searching teddy bear, is here to help. He is one of this bright world’s few Writer-Bears. He speaks about Being One’s Best in an world that is often baffling – and not only for bears. He is often muddled about things (well, he is a bear). But he is always confident that things are going to turn out All Right.
