My huge thanks to Louise of My Chronicle Book Box for a complimentary box to highlight the new Romance Fiction subscription available. My Chronicle recently celebrated its fifth birthday and in addition to the long established science fiction, fantasy and crime & mystery fiction boxes, have now added a new genre to the subscription. Each Feel Good Fiction Box includes a new release book, author exclusives and bookish related goodies.
I’ve ordered from Louise before and am so impressed of how much care is taken in packing each box. Being a complimentary offer, mine was in a plain box instead of the usual branded one but still beautifully presented inside.
Parcels are always exciting and I was looking forward to opening up the seal to see what was inside. The book was the last to be discovered, wrapped and sealed and together with a welcome note were 4 sheets of bookshelf card – blank on the reverse for notes, a ruled wildflower notebook and a pencil containing a Jane Austen quote “There is no enjoyment like reading”.
This month’s book is The Beekeeper of Elderflower Grove by Jaimie Admans, published on 15 September by HarperCollins. It’s a paperback copy, with a signed bookplate inside.
Her new start is about to bee-gin! Having moved into her mum’s spare room after a disastrous break-up, Kayleigh Harwood is desperate for a fresh start. When she sees an opening for a new beekeeper at Elderflower Grove she jumps at the chance – despite not knowing a thing about bees… The abandoned manor house holds a mystery of its own – the previous owner vanished years ago – and locals have been inventing stories about the manor ever since. Unable to resist the urge to look around, Kayleigh is shocked to find drop-dead-gorgeous gardener Carey living inside! Carey explains that the house and surrounding land is at risk of being demolished, endangering the bees, and he has been staying there to protect it. Convinced the secret of the house holds the key to saving Elderflower Grove’s bees, Kayleigh is prepared to do everything she can to help. But is she ready to find her own happy-ever-after too…?
In addition to the book there is a double sided letter from Jaimie explaining the background to the story and five vinyl flower stickers designed by watercolour artist Florographie.
The contents were very well chosen and complimented each other perfectly. I love all stationery – notebooks are always a delight to receive and these are useful as well as being pretty. The prices vary depending on which subscription option is chosen, but with free UK delivery, these boxes would also make a lovely gift – there is the option for a single purchase and to add a gift message.
The November book will be a Christmas one. I’ve read the author a few times and this will be a lovely choice.
